Category:Companies established in 2002The present invention relates to a method for scanning-writing recording media, particularly print surfaces of paper or paperboard, in a contactless fashion, whereby the recording media is passed over the nip of a contactless printing press, comprising a first print cylinder and a second print cylinder disposed in a transfer nip, and a first writing cylinder and a second writing cylinder respectively following the first and second print cylinders.
According to a typical method of the type referred to, two print surfaces are respectively deposited on a first print cylinder and on a second print cylinder which are pressed together, via transfer nips, in a transfer nip disposed between the print cylinders, the print surfaces being subsequently brought into contact with one another in the transfer nip so as to transfer the print image from the first print cylinder to the second print cylinder, with the recording media subsequently being advanced from a first writing position to a second writing position by a first writing cylinder and a second writing cylinder, respectively, which are disposed between the first and second print cylinders and are operated intermittently.
Methods of this type are known in different forms, including, for example, the paper-to-paper method, the paper-to-plastic method, the plastic-to-paper method, the plastic-to-plastic method, the plastic-to-film method and the film-to-plastic method. With the first method, plastic film is applied to a paper surface, and with the latter methods, the image of the print head is transferred from a print surface to the print surface.
A disadvantage of the known method is that the recording media must be advanced over the nip between the first and second print cylinders, which is complex and costly, since two stationary printing cylinders which must be synchronously moved, respectively, are required.
